Los Angeles offers plenty of opportunities for those, who enjoy spectator sports and those who practice various health activities. Dodger Stadium, north of Downtown, is the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, with seasons running April-October. Staples Center, is a newly-built sports and entertainment arena, hosting two basketball teams, LA Lakers and LA Clippers. The winter sport season lasts October-April and features ice hockey team, LA Kings.

LA has not had a resident National Football League team since 1995, so invites numerous star teams from other states. The Rosebowl Stadium, historic home for the bowling, extremely popular within the UCLA campus, is the venue for guest teams as well as college football tournament. The soccer team, LA Galaxy, plays at the Home Depot Center.

There are plenty of opportunities for those, who are not satisfied with the role of a passive fan and want to practice various sports activities. Extensive network of fitness centres, including 24-hour Fitness, Gold’s Gym, Bally Total Fitness with the clubs dispersed all over the city. The visitors can choose any activity for their daily workout, including such exotic kinds as Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi. Yoga Works has numerous studios all over the city. Golf courses can be found in almost any districts, as well as public tennis courts, some of the latter are free, operating on a first-come, first-served basis.

Santa Anita Park, located 23 km north from downtown, is the city’s historic and most popular horseracing center. Extreme sports include bicycling, auto racing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, spectacular motor shows.
