Los Angeles is one of the largest financial and enterprise centres of the world, hosting headquarters of numerous international corporations and financial institutions. There is also a vast array of banks, many of them owned by foreigners: Chinese, Italian, Spanish. Among most popular are City National Bank, Citibank, Imperial Capital Bank, Union Bank of California, Wells Fargo financial group, Westamerica bank. The huge Pacific Exchange group is one of the world’s largest stock exchanges.

Official US currency is the dollar. Currency exchange in Los Angeles can be a real problem. It is best to change money before arriving or buy travelers’ cheques in dollars. At LAX, there are currency exchange booths in the upper level departure area of all terminals and in the arrivals area at the Bradley International Terminal.

Traveler's checks can be exchanged at every terminal. Outside the airport only major banks exchange foreign currency, even some of them limit what currency they will accept. The limited exchange options can be found near the most popular tourist attractions.

Travelers’ cheques can be exchanged everywhere. Numerous ATMs, located at the airport, at banks, supermarkets and tourist areas, are a perfect solution of the cash problem, they allow to withdraw dollars from almost any credit card. Most hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, taxis and other businesses accept major credit cards, Visa and MasterCard (EuroCard) are the most common.
